I know it's not strictly correct but I have one job where the client is in hospital having a hip replaced and I can't get hold of him to ask about changing the panel so I have a thought. Posted here as I want to keep it off the public side.

Remove 16 panels from a system already installed to another client. (This I can do)
Pay the client for their hire and loss of FITs for the duration of the borrow.
Fit said 16 panels on the hospital clients roof and commission etc. I have the inverter in stock so other than the panels its all here.
Take pictures, register the system and complete the remainder of the FITs pack as I have that here as he signed it before going into hospital and send off with MCS cert, invoice etc. The borrowed panels are the same as the install panels by the way. (Sanyo HIT H250)
Remove borrowed panels and return to original customer.
Fit actual Sanyo 250's when back in stock.
Keep scaffold on hire until Sanyo 250's are in stock.

Its on a holiday home so no problem for access etc.

Thoughts?

Would your customer in hospital be satisfied with nearly new?

Then replace existing system with brand new and dont pay them anything as they will benefit also????

The customer in hospital will get new panels. The loan ones will only be in place for commissioning and pictures. a few hours only and then returned to the ground mount they have come from.

When the Sanyo returns to stock we will go back and fit the new ones to the hospital job.

The loaning customer who has lost a day or twos generation will get paid for the loss of FITs and a hire cost per day for the 16 panels. We will cover this cost so not to lose the job entirely.

I think it sounds like a plan!

Segen stuffed me on a sanyo job, had them all allocated to me then yesterday only 12 and today just 4....

Another supplier stuffed me on 2 4KW jobs.....

I have just rolled over, I cannot cope with the stress

Just received............

.Update on Segen Stock Situation
Dear james

As you will might expect we have experienced an unprecedented surge in demand over the last few days taking more orders since Friday morning (when the EST document was leaked) than we do in a normal month.
We are working hard to secure more stock and almost every hour more stock is being added to our incoming deliveries showing on the portal and we expect this to continue over the next few days.
There are some products which it is simply not possible for us to source additional quantities of, most notably the Sanyo N240 and Hyundai 250W black framed mono and we would appreciate it if you don't try and order these as we simply will not be able to source any more before the end of November.
Our portal shows the exact stock availability that we have confirmed by suppliers and so we would request you not to phone up asking about general stock availability as the information which we publish is exactly the same as our own staff see and therefore we are not able to provide any further information over and above what the portal shows. The volume of calls we are currently taking asking about stock is seriously impacting on our ability to process orders and we would ask for your cooperation in this.
We have added 3 MWp of various modules today and expect to achieve the same tomorrow, along with additional quantities of inverters, mounting kit and accessories. Our advice is to keep an eye on the "Stock" page on the portal and be as flexible as possible with your choice of products to match what is available, rather than maybe your first choice.
We have tonight upgraded our system server and therefore hopefully you will experience less of the performance problems when using the portal that you may have experienced today, but our IT infrastructure is having to cope with a five fold increase in usage and inevitably there is an impact on the response times for which we can only apologise.
Finally, our warehouse will be operating most of the weekend so it would be a great help if you could arrange payment for shipments by the end of business on Friday for shipments you wish dispatched on Monday onwards for delivery on Tuesday onwards, so we can maximise the volume of goods we can pick and pack over the weekend.
Please be assured we are doing everything we can to meet the demand and service your requirements, but clearly with the current surge our organisation is under significant strain, so we would ask for your patience

It's not strictly permissable by MCS rules but I certainly don't blame you for doing it. It is not your fault nor your customer's that this stampede has caused such shortages so I say go for it. In fact, I wouldn't even bother going this far. I'd stick everything else in and register the install. The panels can follow.

I think there will be a lot of dodgy goings on in the next few weeks ! ie systems registered without installation and the like

Dodgy, Not strictly in accordance with MCS! Sod em!

I will fit the panel and set in operation etc. Where in MCS does it say the panels cannot be removed after commissioning? LOOP HOLE!

I dont see the harm in installing all the wiring and mounting system awaiting the panels - at that point its not like its going to be removed is it? I would just do that, rails on, inverter in all ready to rumble awaiting panels.

Maybe not but it's belt and braces approach. I can borrow the panels very easily and at the very kind permission of the client "free!" He's more put out about the changes than I am and he's getting the 43.3p!

dont you have to note the seial numbers for all the panels fitted?, also where does this information recoreded if you have to of course,

BTW do what youve got to do m8, in the end everyone gets what they want sound a great idea, also can i ask why fit them, can you just get the job all ready to recive panels and notify the DNO.
