Plans have smoke detector in new bathroom

..but the electricians guide to the building regs page 122, 10.2.2 (B) 8. Says they should not be fixed in bathrooms.

What do I do? Ignore the plans?

There are bathroom alarms in pubs and clubs

Like them,I supose you could put a "no smoking" detector in there

What type of property is this?

Like Jason says, clarify with the architect that this is exactly what they want and where they want it:thumbsup

Toilet/WC rooms are one thing, full blown bathrooms are another. Steam vapour can set off both types of smoke detectors and some rate of rise detectors. None will last too long in that sort of environment!! It is obviously a drawing mistake that needs taking up with those responsible!!

Never ever alter the design of a fire detection system. Always get the designer to change drawings etc. Even if something seems stupid never leave it out.

Very good advice here:thumbsup

I'd certainly be inclined to raise the question though... You'll then be able to let us all know and we too would've have learnt something new for the day :D

Good advice yes, ...but by the same token, don't go ahead and install something you KNOW is wrong. ....Raise a ''Drawing Compliance Instruction'' for those responsible to either confirm or alter/amend an ''approved building drawing'' (ABD)

Agreed, If it was me and I thought something was odd then I would STOP and ASK (the correct person) before continuing further :)

spoke to building control guy dealing with this application and he said dont put one in the WC or the utility room that are on the plans, he said no need, just a heat in the new kitchen. Cheers guys.

Now your confusing us, Are you talking about WC's or a full Bathroom?? Nothing wrong in installing smoke's in WC rooms, you see them all the time in public premises, like pubs, airports, stations and the like. Can't see much of a problem for utility rooms either!!!
