Evening guys and gals

Done a ECIR in an HMO today, consumer unit was of plastic construction situated in an exit hallway on the ground floor. I recently read some pamphlet in a wholesalers which told me that, due to the Am3 regulations relating to fire proofing, we need to be coding such a scenario as a C3. Is this a load of nonesense in an attempt to sell more consumer units or is it as per regulations?

Cheers guys

Andy

IMHO its only a C3 if under the stairs.....

Page 16 of the relevant Best Practice Guide

Code 4.... "A fire extinguisher should be mounted within 6ft of the potential offending electrical installation".

I once read in a Wholesalers that a cable stripper was a must have and you can't live without one, - I'm still alive and still £18.99 better off :)

One of my local wholesalers, last Spring, were telling sparkies that the AMD3 metal boards were compulsory from 1st July 2015!

I can highly recommend another publication which presents the regulations exactly as they are, it's called bs7671
