hi folks, i have a problem with the timer for my immersion heater, it is an old sangamo dial timer with 4 pins, 2 on and 2 off, half the dial is black and half white for day/night.

the problem is a few nights ago the dial stopped and the fuse in the main fuse box was tripped. i only realised when i had no hot water, i flipped the fuse switch back and it merrily started spinning again as it was before so i reset the time to be correct and hoped for hot water again, however it does not appear to be switching the water heater on or off.

i have tried doing ti manually but nothing seems to make the heater come on.

please help as i loathe paying npower for using the boost element.:cuss:

i hope the element hasnt failed as it is a new one already, had the old element replaced as that used to trip all the electrics.

ill get landlord to send his plumber out.

roll on buying my own place so i can have a gas boiler and no more sodding immersion heater!!!!

could be a faulty timer. check the voltage at incoming and outgoing terminal when under load.
