Hi people,

I have very recently started doing some t & I, and I have a domestic installation that I have completed in an Victorian basement flat, basically a re-wire all but for the lighting circuits where I have utilized the old wiring (after making some insulation resistance tests and good visual inspection). NB. I could not gain access to the top floor flat in order to lift the floor: also, it's a listed building.

Now I am looking to fill-in an Electrical Installation Cert, and I wondered how I qualify this? Is it a 'new installation' or is it an 'alteration to existing'? ie. 'extent of installation covered by this certificate' - I would like to include in the tests ALL circuitry including lighting circuits - but do they qualify??

Also, proximity of gas meter to the consumer unit is only about 10 inches. I did not change this because of the cable/wall aperture and space restrictions. Can I conform/tick to the 'proximity of non-electrical services' box (because in effect it is not a totally new installation?) or do I need to qualify this somehow?

Many Thanks!

I would go with New Installation and for extent of installation.... something like 'Partial re-wire plus test and inspect all circuits'

You say the gas meter is about 10 inches away for CU. If this is the case then you should be fine. Minimum distance is 150mm (6 inches).

agree with jud. new install. extent of work " rewire" with a note saying partiall lighting cable tested and re-used.

Yes, it's all about documenting your EXACT involvement in the installation, maybe even listing the circuits that you've installed.
