thanks for that mate i 've never seen it before i'll look out for those poles, i started a re-wire today and the cut out fuse had the little sticker on it and then i noticed it was a over hesd supply i wasn't sure if it needed a earth stake

An example from Ireland.

And that is a paint roller...

but more likely to be PNB i would have thought...
PME overheads have every 3rd pole staked to earth, probably one of the most common forms of distribution here in the sunny south west. I have only ever seen PNB a few times generally for supplys to large sites, in fcat the last time I seen it was at a hospital.

Never seen a hospital supplied by a DNO LV supply, they are usually supplied at MV, with either their own TX(s) or DNO TX's. I wouldn't of thought that the LV side of those hospital TX's would be a PME/TNC-S earthing system either...

Alas I may me mistaken engineer, I was only going on the previous inspection records, however it wasn't a big hospital, more of an NHS care home under the guise of a hospital, In that case I'm not sure the last time I saw a true PNB setup.

Just finished a rewire of a house, just before i started the customer had got an electric shock from the bath, arm in plaster for two months due to nerve damage, I called DNO to tell them overhead supply had probably lost its neutral or had a short, turned out to be a loose bit of consentric strand shorting on the pole, electricity can be a dangerous thing indeed.

Can't think what that strand was shorting too, would transmit itself into the home??

It was a TT, when anything was plugged in all the lights dimmed, thats what made me think it was a loss of neutral, however this tested ok when not under load, new it had to be a supply problem though, I wasent there when DNO arrived at 2am so I was told this by the customer, after they fixed the pole it was fine however, then I ripped everything out of the house for the rewire. I suspect the neutral was loose as well, any suggestions welcome as stuff like this is pretty common here in somerset on overheads.
