Went and had a look at a potential job, on the main incomer the label readed this electrical system is supplied by pme earthing.
I looked outside and saw the property was supplied via an overhead line. Can this still be a pme system?

Yep it can still be PME overhead - I wasn't sure for a while... but have seen it quite a few times now :)

Job I was finishing off a couple of weeks ago DNO poped along to move cut out postion all supplied from line overhead, and was PME.

PME can be supplied from overhead lines. The poles will probably have a red PME label on them. If in doubt contact the local electricity distribution company and ask for a PME enquiry. PME requires the transformer and supply poles to have the neutral tied to earth.

in the area where i live we have a mix of under ground and over head all the overhead supplies are TNCS (PME) under ground TNS , do a Ze test see what the readings are , and contact the electrical supplier and see what they say it is

A Ze will give an indication that PME may be available although a call to the DNO will confirm.

Also, if there is one single drop cable from the pole to the house then its more than likely.

If its 2 then, unless you get it upgraded (which may or may not cost) it wont be there.

PME connection upgrade costs ÂŁ154 all in around my way. just had one fitted for a customer. Money well spent if you ask me especially when they had to dig about 20m of the street up as well, and it took 2 days:D

WOW. Western Power have just charged one of my customers ÂŁ548 to move their supply cable by 500mm up a wall. No new cutout fuse or meter position just a re-route of cable, plus I drilled the holes in the wall. Seems like no rhyme nor reason to me. Monopolies we love them.
