Polarity of Invertor Connections

Just connected up invertor of first system thought I woudl check with supplier about the polarity of of connections from the dc Isolator to the invertor the technical support told me that I would have to remember in what order the cables came off the array in order to get them the right way round on the invertor. He said most people mark which is which before they start!!! Is this true? He also said even if I had the connections the wrong way round it would not harm the invertor...any clarity anyone?:iamwithstupid:

As for marking the cable up - yes we do - damage to inverter - depends, most likley no damage as i think most have built in protection for this type of error.

If you didnt make the cables up how do you know which is + and - ?

I use a marking system for my strings that I like but every one has there own methods.
I use different coloured tapes for example and one string ill mark the 2 ends blue and on 1 string both ends ill put earth tape so I know on the roof ill use that as my - and on the isolator it will be my +.
If its 2 or 3 string I just use different coloured tape to mark my different strings but still using the earth tape as my - + marker.
Its how I like to do it but every 1 is different.

Easy enough to mark them up - few rolls of different coloured insulation tape. And hwo do you get the connections right if you're not marking them? I know the SMA inverters don't work if the polarity's wrong, can't answer for other makes.

Use brown cable for +ve and grey cable for -ve as per 7671.
