hi guys,

could do with some help.

I undetand how to do my polairy testing on a normaly circuit. e.g lighting circuit.

but how do you do polarity testing of the incoming supply?

thanks

does this look right?

Live polarity test

Reason: To verify polarity of supply authorities system.

Method: An approved voltage indicator shall be used or test lamp to GS38. Using the approved voltage indicator, one probe shall be placed on the incoming neutral, and the other on the incoming line conductor, on the main breaker. The indicator should show it is live. One probe shall now be placed on the CPC and the other on the incoming line conductor. The indicator should show it is live. A test shall be preformed between CPC & incoming neutral. The indicator should show that it is not live.

You bet me to it Lenny Hmmmph!!...lol

Can i ask paulthemagpie; as you have posted several basic questions thus far where are you research notes and books, although i understand we were all learners at some point alot of what you ask is written in clear form in the books or notes you should be learning from and not too hard to look, what course you doing ? you seem to be stumbling on some basics here.
Im trying to give constructive advice in that you need to look and learn these yourself and if you have a grey area you have trouble with speak to your tutor or work collegue as its becomming apparent you are trrying to rely on the forum to get your answers which wont help you out in the real world. I would suggest some more studying with regards to todays subject of Testing.

You would have thought they'd have a switch to flick on and off to engage an override. Not on each PIR but an actual light switch

No live and neutral at the wall. But that would be the switch live right?
