Portfolio Help

Hi I am currently studying for my NVQ3 and have passed all my exams but need to find an employer in the South West London area to help me pass my AM2 portfolio.

I have contacted commercial electricians direct and applied for apprenticeships but have had no luck yet and my college cant find me a placement after making me leave the electrical company I was working for as they didn't cover all the criteria necessary.

Can anyone give me any advice on where to find an employer to finish my apprenticeship?

Sorry, your college advised you to leave? What sort of work were you carrying out?

I was doing general domestic work which wasn't enough to complete the portfolio.

Sounds a bit odd, I completed my NVQ portfolio whilst serving my apprenticeship with a domestic building company.

What bits are you missing that you can't do in domestic?

you can do the missing bits simulated in workshop etc. or ask boss if you can sub to someomd for the bits you need.

the sneaky way is do it at home and have cert etc made up and counter signed by qs.

The whole point of the NVQ is to prove that you have completed certain tasks in the real world.

what of the am2 then no containment.

and if they didnt then practically no one would qualify because of the range of work you need to do

am2 is a lot simpler than it used to be no install really just connecting

people cheat on portfolio, shame really because the am2 used to be a test that helped prove they had done the stuff in there portfolio

The am2 isn't a test! At least the old one wasn't when I did it.

The one I did was three days working in perfect working conditions with all materials provided and good plans and wiring diagrams of what you had to do.
Added to that was some of the easiest fault finding I've ever done.
