A calibration stand that tests and issues a cert etc. To be rented to shops and they take a % of the takings?

Its a 3 glass of wine idea....

A good idea, but it will be more difficult to implement for devices not designed from the outset for automated testing. You might need some Optical Character Recognition capability, to read the device display.

Why not invent the standard for all Electricians test equipment to be automatically tested and license it to all the manufacturers?

Once the've built an automated test rig, then see if it can be built into a kiosk form-factor.

I could see such a kiosk doing well in the Electrical Wholesalers, unless they have their own calibration service that would be competing with this.

Keep drinking the wine! I find the better the wine, the better the ideas!

I think the costs involved are far too high. Just how much does it cost to train and by the testing gear ? How many units can be tested in a day etc?

Could it be done mobile ? low costs etc . Pull up near a big site etc and offer out calibrations at way under the going rate . You take the test to them . Almost no "down time" and no postage and issues with postal insurance etc .
cheers

Luke
