Hi folks,

My client have a generator set rated 450KVA, 220Vac, 3P, 60Hz. Recently, the during start up of operation, the generator shut down because of an unknown trouble. When I check the power analyzer (I used for monitoring), the event that caused the shut down was "PF" which means, POWER FACTOR. Now, my client said that they have a 100Vac, 6 Khz rated machine. I just want to make sure that is there a possibility that the machine rated at 6 Khz did some trouble to the generator that caused it to shut down? Does high frequency loads affect the Power Factor of the supply? Or since the rating of the supply is only 60Hz that it shut down?

Please help me on these on.
Thanks a lot guys.

Best regards,

keynotez

high supply frequency will mess with the powerfactor (see calcs for caps and inductors), but this situation, not enough experience to answer sorry =-(
