Need to supply a power shower. Consumer unit - Rewirable fuses. No RCD

No equipotential bonding in bathroom

Main bonding 6 mm - maximum

Can I supply it via one of the circuits throught an RCD and upgrade bonding. Was thinking of lighting circuit upstairs which will also cover no bonding in bathroom (tiles all over including floor) so cannot run bonding to metal as it will look awful. Shower pump rated at 3 amp.

Any suggestion. Owner cannot afford new consumer unit.

Thanks.

If you have no alternative then spuring off the lighting circuit is OK but not the best practice.
Use an RCD fused spur to supply the shower pump and fit a 3a fuse. I assume that the pump is in the loft, if so then you need a MWC, and i dont think it is notifiable either if that is the case. But i may yet stand corrected, however if it is in the bathroom then it is notifiable.

Dont worry about existing CU and bonding etc as long as the circuit you work on is in spec and the gas and water bonds are OK from incomming services to CU earth connection just make a note on your paperwork that it conforms to whatever edition regs and customer declines offer to upgrade. There is no longer the requirement to bond all bits of metal anymore. It could be compliant anyway if the tails are 16mm, main earth 10mm then supplementary at 6mm is OK, assuming 80a or smaller cut out fuse.

Shower pump will be fitted in airing cupboard in corridor upstairs. Will use a spur with RCD in circuit ring circuit.

Main bongind are 6mm all of the wires seems to be that size.

I know that I have to bring all the main bonding to 16 and 10 mm to comply with regulation. There is already a shower connected properly via surrey flange. It just need a pump in it a there is no pressure at all.

However if the lighting circuit in the bathroom is not on RCD, the pipes in the bathroom will have to be bonded together. Is there another alternative to that.

Sirkit Brk - what is a MWC.

Cheers
