hello chaps i just been to quote a job supplying electrics to shed, i suggested running 4mm swa radial via single socket outlet in the lounge, in the shed he'll be using 100watt luminare, oils filled around 800 watt heater, and a radio and speakers, my only concern was all the sockets in the house come off one 32A breaker , thinkin about it now with the extra power the sheds pullin it my over load the circuit, your thoughts would be great cheers:cool:

for shed power a 13 amp supply fed from fused spur off the ring main wired in 2.5 mm2 SWA is more than ample.

assume you have 30mA RCD protection covering the ring circuit already? if not use an RCD spur next to the socket your taking power from. that combo is good for a 50 metre run.

the run is only about 3metre long. i was going to connet the the 4mm swa cable to ip 56 jb then and the same at the shed thn use eather a switch spur inside the shed or use a 2way c/u cant realy see the point in this tho as the shed isnt realy pullin to much power

exactly so use 2.5 swa straight into the shed socket ( forget the IP box at shed end ) and connect a spur off that shed socket to control / protect the lighting with a 5 amp fuse. Job done. there really is no point putting in consumer units and separate circuits back to the house for this job...as you say its a shed 3 metres from the house drawing 5 amps max! :p

Can't see a problem with what The Truth said, but if the whole house is on 1 ring and you spur off to the shed, you may have an overload issue.

Speak to the supplier and they may give you an alternative option. That is of course assuming the other 2 fuses are still live.
