Powering Two Little 12 V Spotlights

Brought two blue led spotlights for inside an car interior that fit inside the cigeratte lighter but the girlfriend hates them so want to power them for inside the house.
They are 12 volt and they need to be powered by something that can power them without going flat or draining in an hour.
There are standard like 9v batterys and 12 volt batterys but dont think they' ll last that long.
What is the batterys that have the coils on the top and power road lights and signs for hours upon hours and where can get one.

I think the batteries youre talking about are PS996's but they are 6volt.

Why not connect them to a 240ac/12dc transformer like on normal low voltage downlights then youve got no run flat issue as your on mains supply (they do get warm though!).

Youll have to cut off the cigarette lighter plug to wire them to the transformer so please dont do it unless you know what you are doing! If you get a sparky to do it they will knock you something up in 10mins or so

The battery in roadside lamps is the PJ996 see PJ996 Varta 6v Lantern Battery These usually have four 1.5v cells inside and last so long because the lamp is flashed , for contineous (i.e no chemical recovery time) use they last about 6 hours to half bright. The transformer solution is proberbly the best way to go as maplins will do a variable power supply for less than £20. This works out to less than 2 weeks continuous battery use even with LED rather than filament.
