Capacitive Power Factor correction (PFC) is applied to lagging circuits as a means of reducing the inductive component of the current and hence the reactive power,thereby reducing the losses in the supply and electricity bills.

The capacitor will compensate the inductive current thereby reducing copper loss in cable as well as enabling smaller cables to be used

Capacitors will only reduce your bill if you are charged for KVAHr and not KWHr.

Over the years there have been rip off scams claiming to reduce domestic bills by improving power factor with capacitors, the only thing they reduce is your bank account.
