Hi Guys
I am due to sit my practical exam next week and I could do with some sound advice as I am scared stiff .If it is a prriodic inspection I am doing and I do the live testing first before carrying out the Ze is it ok just to switch of the isolator of the DB and then disconnect the main earth and take the reading from the live side of the DB isolator, isolator off obviously or do I need to switch of the main switch to he DB
thanks

first thing you will do when the board is energised is the Ze - isolate the rest of the installation and remove the earth. Then you will do PFC - reconnect the earth first.

edit - if it's the 2391 it will be a 3 phase board and the main switch will isolate it.

Hi Guys
I am doing the practical 2391 I did a dry run last week and at the end of the test the lecturer told me as it was a periodic inspection I should have carried out all live testing first which includes the Ze test and the PFC and then carry on with the functional and loop impeedance tests then isolate and lock off and carry out the dead testing.
Sorry for asking so many questions guys but as I said before I do not do much testing as 90% of my work is maintenance. So please be patient with me if I have to carry out an R1+R2 on a circuit that has either a dimmer or a motor speed controller do I have to link out the load side to the live in to ensure that I am not picking up the resistance of the potentiometer or should its I just set the device to its maximum
If a single phase board is supplied by a single pole circuit breaker fom the 3phase board should I carry out an R1+R2 on the supply cable to the single phase board
Do you guys mind if I ask more questions after
many thanks to all of you
