Hi guys,
Just been to survey a job, they use a prepay card and want solar pv installing.

Will 'exporting' the excess power effect the prepay meter? i hear some disconnect the supply if there is a reverse current?!?!

What can be done to overcome this, will i have to phone the supplier to confirm the meter is ok?

Thanks

Who is the supplier mate as I have dealt with this issue before and what meter is it?

Well I will tell you that I phoned BG and they said there pre-pay meters worked fine with PV but then there on site meter team said no so I don't think they really know.
But I have spoke to Landis on this and they said yes it works fine with there pre-pays but they must have the right settings.
I hope this helps mate as I have had a mere with the whole meter thing.

ok thanks, i think i will explain to the customer that i will have to investigate further upon acceptance of the quote. if the meter buggers up whos problem / fault is it? can i demand they change it if its in compatable?

I have spoke to every one on the meter problem and who is liable for any repayments and so on and all I get is....

A grey area!!! No one or any one who is willing to pay.

And that is from the MCS, R.E.A.L, N.I.C , DNO'S and every one and his dog.
There is nothing in writing to say who or how any one is responsible so if I was you as I have been told make sure you speak to the customer to cover your back best you can.
