Hi lads
just doing a quote for some newbuild flats just outside the M25 (mainly studwork internal walls by the looks of it) and wondered what the going rate is for a socket/switch/FCU etc
Ive currently gone with £50 per point but the total has come in pretty high and im thinking of dropping it to £40.Just wondering what other people are charging on new build stuff.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I know but realised it would be better suited to business section. Sorry if I have offended anyone with my distinct lack of forum etiquette

I'll post my reply here then!

£50-£60 is about right.especially on a new build.
if you've gone with £50 per point, and the customer is happy, it's all good. if they moan saying its too much, and you're happy with £40, go with that. simples!

Thanks Dan. I did read your reply, was just hoping for a few more cos the client wants the quote tonight

£50- £60 is much the rate anywhere in the SE - inside M25 usually creeping up by £5-10 a point where achievable.

Leave yourself a bit of room though - and don't be too keen to drop a tenner a point just like that - so maybe £55 a point to start, and if he moans, come down in £3 or £5 increments..... you might find you get away with nearly £50 a point in the end....

Thanks lads
The prob is I dont wanna get beaten by another contractor but I think I'll stick with £50 per point for now and consider dropping a little if im pushed on it. Should make plenty either way

Stick to your pricing guide. I normally work on a price per point scheme which seems to work. This month, I've gone through all my quotes and worked out price per point versus price of materials plus labour time. Every quote was within £25 either way (These were on quotes of around £2K).

Of the quotes I gave out, I probably got about 60% of the work.

Don't go lowering your prices just to win jobs!!! You can sit in the house and lose money, don't go to work and do it.
