just been to look at a 5 bedroom detached bungalow rewire for a builder i know, standard apart from spot lights in all rooms, then a new kitchen extension in few months, asked for labour only so quoted £1500 just for rewire+cert alone,he nearly passed out lol thought i was joking, makes me laugh, then priced a 2 bed bungalow, cert and alarm all standard again i said £2000 custormer was happy, she said ive been quoted 3500 to 4000 i said jesus. where do people get there prices from xmas cracker lol

whats your thoughts?

I sometimes wonder. Not been back in Northern Ireland long but it seems people are more than willing to pay 1k+ for the outside of their house to be painted, 300 a day for a plasterer, whatever the gas installer quotes and argue with the spark. Its hard to get a good plasterer, easy to get a crap spark.

i once priced a 5 bed through terrace with supply to garage outside lights chrome fittings shower to be supplied and fitted all chrome in the kitchen, the guy nearly fell of his seat when given the price, he said it should be a grand and no more ?? whats that for then i said just the bits. what a star he was. told him to get a cheaper ligit quote and we would talk again. funny enough he was back on the phone after two days asking when we could start

Could it be these get rich quick, qualify in 3 days things that we see popping up everywhere, and when its passed this forum gives out the real advice when some people get to the reality that the paperwork they have paid £3000 for was a rip off?
