Hi, I have recently set up on my own.

I have worked for a contractor for a couple of years and am now moving onto private work. I have a quote lined up for the repair of a burgular alarm. As far as I know some of the PIRs I open the enclosure and check the connections first to assess and charge by hour or should I just come in with 180 ish??? thanks.

Just charge by the hour mate and then slap a bit on top.You don't really know what you are going to find until you get to the job.:)

Do you know what's up with it? What panel? When installed?

I don't know whats up with it yet. Am going to do the quote tomorrow evening. All I know is the make. SO thats why I don't know whether its best to have the panel off there and then, to check the connections. Or should I just give the hourly rate as mentioned?

Also he does what a new PIR installed to the system. What would be a good price for this to be supplied and fitted.

I think you'll have to play it by ear. Until you know what's involved in locating/fixing the fault and how much time you need to install the new PIR (if the panel will take it) Check the battery in the panel hasnt dried out too. Always looks good when you get the meter out.

Once you have a better idea of time involved then you can come back with a price. If you are likely to get the maintenance out of it too that can be added on.

If you need any control panel instructions give me a shout.
