Hi guys. Been asked to change a load of accessories in a house. I’ve done an inspection and the wiring is tidy, Hager CU, all circuits protected by RCD, plaster is sound and there’s nothing untoward with the installation.

The sockets and switches are all dated, so the customer just wants everything refreshing, still in white plastic so no flat plate or anything like that to worry about. The customer is supplying all materials.

There are quite a few single sockets which I’m replacing for twins, I’m not using conversion plates as the customer decided against it so I’ll be chasing in twin KO boxes for those.

There are also two new twin sockets to add, one of which I will be adding to the ring, one I may have to spur off the ring.

Here’s a list of exactly what needs doing;

Hallway
  • Renew 1 x Single Socket
  • Renew 2 x 2 Gang Switches
Lounge
  • Change 1 x Single Socket for Twin Socket
  • Renew 3 x Twin Sockets
  • Renew 2 x 1 Gang Dimmer Switches

Top Left Bedroom
  • Change 2 x Single Sockets for Twin Sockets

Landing
  • Renew 1 x Single Socket
  • Renew 1 x 1 Gang Dimmer Switch
  • Renew 1 x 1 Gang Switch

Second Bedroom
  • Change 1 x Single Socket for Twin Socket
  • Add 1 x Twin Socket (Back entry from landing)
  • Renew 1 x 1 Gang Switch

Master Bedroom
  • Add 1 x Twin Socket on right hand side of bed (Spur off left hand socket)
  • Renew 1 x 1 Gang Switch
  • Change 1 x Single for Twin Socket

I’m new to self employment and I was wondering if you could give me your rough quotes so I have an idea on what to charge.

Thanks in advance guys.

Customer is supplying materials, so double all above prices for him trying to be a tightwad.?

All those price per point assumes supply and install, you’re only installing.

I bet the customer is looking for someone to do it for £100 or less.

have you checked that where you’re spurring from isn’t already a spur?
You could find all manner of surprises once you get started.
