Hi, i was made redundant last year so i decided to set up myself. Trouble is i have no experiance in pricing and im obviously eager not to rip off myself or my customer. I have picked up a big house being converted to 2 dwellings, a 2 bed flat and a 3 bed maisonett. The job will take approx 15 working days, but what is the going rate at the moment? I know what i would be happy with but if i can get more :):). Any help would be geatly appreciated thanks, Dean.

Depands a lot on where you are in the country, I can not charge anywhere near the prices as the south charge.

Thanks to those who replied. I should have asked how to lift a floorboard, would have got more response. Unbelievable.

Hmmm my thoughts also, you see on here the guys working their socks off leaflet drops, business plans etc and this one just wants it on a plate, also dont think he will last long in business either?

£200/Day at present for me or £45/point (hope that helps)

It seems that you have got off on the wrong foot here. Dont be put off we all have bad days. Your question is a bit too open ended. try to provide as much info as you can at the beginning and your replies will be a lot more helpful.

Congratulations and good luck with going it alone.

I'm in Leeds, i do about 3 or 4 house to bedsit conversions every year and the price i charge is anywhere between £2000 and £9000 depending on specification required etc.
If i were to quote for your job as you describe it, and it was in Leeds then i would be looking at about £3500 all in unless it involved electric heating system or full on fire alarms and e lighting.

Cheers.......Howard

it's up to you to price the job. the person ordering the work if he/she has any sense will get a few quotes first.

the second thing to note is the cost of your materials - you need to get a supplier who can give you reasonable prices (maybe save some money if the job is cash, you can offer your wholesaler cash for a decent discount

the cost for labour/overheads is something you should have worked out before anything else

ie. you work out you what you need £---.xx per week to keep your head above water and turn over a profit that you are happy with. you know how long the job will take, maybe that should be your guide

don't let other people dictate 'your' prices

and dont get stroppy just because everyone on this forum hasn't ran to your aid - it's not very endearing

Good post Howard, I was thinking around the £4 - £4500 for a bulk standard job inc materials.

I shouldnt be so snappy, been in a loft for 2 days solid and now having a few beers.....Chill!!!

Checking the websites of your local electrcians for the kind of price they are charging would give you some idea.

Cheers!
