one of my 24v dewalt battery decided it would boil its self and smoke out my van out getting very very hot in the process has anyone else had this problem is the battery totally bust or can i save it????

The smoke is a crucial component. Once you're careless enough to let it out, there's no going back.
 
You have a shorted battery pack, the short is probably internal. Be very careful, do not approach the battery in that condition as it may explode, spewing any remaining electrolyte in all directions. Also it's not advisable to breathe in any of the fumes. Let it burn out and cool down if it's safe to do so. If you are worried about the heat generated setting fire to combustible materials in the van, you may have to done protective clothing, goggles, mask and thick leather gloves and remove the battery pack to a safer location as a last resort. This battery pack is useless scrap.
