Hi everyone I have a problem with a vent axia solo plus extractor fan, I've got the casing off and everything seems to be wired up correctly however the fan itself will not spin when the fan is switched on, but if you give the fan a slight nudge it will operate correctly, anybody have any idea what the problem could be?

Howd you get on with the tree fella ?
Paddy and Murphy are walking past a lumber yard. there's a sign on the gate :
"Tree Fellers Wanted".
Paddy turns to Murphy and says:
" Pity there's only two of us".

going nowhere today ( except local off licence). van is rear wheel drive, useless on snow and ice. anyone selling a limited slip diff. for a Hiace?

Briefly back on topic, I hit the fan motor with some WD-40 and it seems to be working. I'll see how it goes.

Cheers!

Bear in mind that WD40 is not a lubricant. It's a solvent, petrol based, and will disolve the remaining grease in the bearings. You would be better off with a few drops of 3 in 1 oil.

On many occasions, especially on my mower, I have taken the bearings out and carefully levered off the bearing shield (easier if they are plastic) and cleaned out the bearing with WD40 and re-packed with grease then put the shield back on, not recommended if the bearing is rough to turn, easier to take the bearing No off the casing and replacing like for like, but at least you now know that its a sticky bearing that is the problem.

yeah. wd40 lubricates for a while, but as you say, tends to dissolve or thin out existing lubricants. good for cleaning tools though when your VDE stuff is black from use,
