Proximity of pendant to stairs

Hi all. I've just joined this forum. Are there specific regs around the proximity of a downstairs hallway ceiling pendant to the staircase? My concern is that the pendant could be reached from the stairs through the stair spindles as the stairs are descended. Many thanks.

No there aren't any regulations about this.

What about table lamps which have a similar lamp holder in them, do you place them out of reach too?

Many thanks. My concern is one of safety; a child may see it as an opportunity to "swing" from the pendant when using the stairs? Admittedly, I guess they could be "creative" in any room & swing from a pendant fitting. Just want to be sure before I progress.

If a child can reach it I would suggest its unsuitable siting ...kids are kids and they will get up to anything ....change to a more discreet fitting or relocate IMHO ... no specific reg' though as they are guidance and don't specify all circumstances.

Make it compulsory for any children using the stairs to wear boxing gloves.
This way they won't be bale to grab the pendant through the stair spindles.

Wrap all the children in bubble wrap and lock them in the house to prevent them from ever possibly going near anything that might hurt them!

Why not use the time it would take to re-site pendant,to discipline any children concerned. My 11 year old can quite easily get hold of,and use,my bank card,but to date,no hookers or sports cars have been purchased.Now then son,is that chimney clean yet? :winkiss:

The last time my wee one was cleaning the chimney the wee sod stopped halfway up for a smoke break.
So I lit the fire.. That'll teach the wee sod a better work ethic
