Hello Lads and ladette's

Upon performing PSCC and PEFC on a newly calibrated (as in March 2014) KT60, I m getting a 'OL' reading.
This has now happened on several occasions in both flats and houses in different towns.

Can anybody help me out..?

Cheers,

The reason for the OL is that the value is over range and a larger range should be selected on the meter, if you are using Loop this should only happen, I think, for TT systems where the EFLI is greater than 20 Ω, but the PSCC could well be over 200 A or 2000 A.

You will find the same reading if you do a loop test. It means that something is missing from the circuit..eg the earth is open circuit...it can also be caused by using your kewtech wrong. I have a kt64...If you plug the pe into the N and vice versa you will get OL....it signals greater than 20ohms.

Also make sure your plugs are pushed all the way home into the sockets on your tester

Sorry for a late reply, family bereavement. Anyway...I am testing using three leads and KT60 set on 2000 A but still getting OL...I've rang KEWTECH technical dept, very supportive, and you can calculate the PSC by doing an equation Eg votls devided by loop x 0.84.
But still, is there something wrong with my KEWTECH. Incidently, I tried the PSC at my house and got readings testing on 2000 A. So I don't know what to do.

OL suggests overload, so the test result is greater than the instrument can measure.
Calculate the Pfc from the loop impedance next time it happens and compare that to the instruments measurement range.
