Hi everyone,
Hope you are all well.

Just a quick question.
I got a call from an agency, who offered me work on the underground, but mentioned a PTS Card. I know it means Personal Track Safety, but wondered how do I obtain one? Can I call London Underground for example and apply for one? I have a Coyles Safety Critical ID Card, but I was told that I also need the PTS Card
Any help would be great,
Best regards,
Sav

Sav, you need to be employed within the railway industry to get a PTS card. This is because a firm has to sponsor you to do the course. If you were sub contracting to a firm then they would be the sponsor but you might well have to pay for it yourself thoough.

its a bit like the "Airside clearance" question catch22 you need said card to get the job but can only get the card if your employed by someone in the job :(:(

You dont need to be employed in the rail industry, anyone that works trackside has to have one. I used to work for BT as a fibre jointer and we had to do the course. You have to have a medical first which is quite throrough, then do the course, 3 or four days, I think.

Things have changed in the past couple of years, I still work in the industry and it is now the case that you need to be sponsored by a firm to do the course. This can either be directly employed or working for a subcontracter.
