Hi people

I have been asked to have a look at a house where another firm has put a pump shower 3A and an immersion 3kW on plug tops.

Now having looked at the regs I am of 2 minds... I personally do not like immersions being on plug tops as they don't like being loading for such long periods of time, and I recall being told that fixed appliances of 2kW or more needing to also be on a dedicated supply.

My question is would you have either on plug tops, and whether the immersion should also be on a dedicated supply even if the plug top isn't against the regs.

Regards,

Chris

shower pump is OK, but i'd rather see it on a FCU. immersion on a plug is bad practice. it sould be on it's own 16A radial with a 20A D/P switch for isolation/switching.

I shared the same opinion Tel, just wanted to make sure I wasn't being pedantic.

Thankyou

I thought I was the pedantic one on this forum, lol, I agree with Tel. However it used to be the norm many moons ago to wire the water heater on the Ring Main as it was called in those days.

Agreed,IM should be on it's on circuit, in my old house it was on an plug top off the ring main in airing cupboard, only for back up never got round to sorting it. lol

Have they done this as there is only 1 socket in the airing cupboard?
