Hello, Ive installed an additional rail in a (huge) consumer, tailing off the main 30ma rcd switch (source side) into a 60947-3 isolator, feeding a 60898 16 onto my inverter cct.
do i treat the additional rail as its own installation (like an additional consumer) or do i have to get involved in testing all circuits in the original installation? as its within the same enclosure ? any help apprieciated ;-)

schedule of inspections
would i put n/a for

1/ 'presence of residual current device(s)?

2/ additional protection provided by 30mA for cables concealed in walls...... etc

even though the main switch for the house is rcd 30ma? which has cables concealed etc

You only have to supply an EIC for the new circuit you installed, you do not need to test the remaining installation.

You would tick both boxes as you do have additional protection by RCD and you do have additional protection for cable concealed. Even though it is existing on the old installation they are protecting your new circuit

thanks for your help bit confused as to how the rcd is protecting my new circuit (please see attached pdf (the neutral for the house ccts isnt shown)

So you have come off the supply side in parallel to a double pole switch, so in affect that switch and your PV circuit is not RCD protected.

OK so now why have you done it this way, if you wanted to have RCD protection then you could have come off the load side of the RCD straight into your MCB, why have you put the switch in there, is this for the AC isolation.

the inverter will trip the 30mA rcd on high generation output, the inverter doesnt require an rcd and nor does the installation method. the full cct is

from mcb to ac isolator to generation meter to inverter.

Seems a strange way to do it, I personally would have fitted a small self contained enclosure Henley blocked off the main tails and not touched the existing installation, but as long as you got a good piggy back connection of the RCD it will work, though a little confusing having a 100amp double pole switch, which is not the main switch

which is what i usually do, but this time there is no space whatsoever, the house consumer is huge with lots of space so i piggybacked off the intake to my main switch and effectively made a standalone cu inside the cu... this is where the form filling problem has come from... it was the only way... so do i tick or n/a the residual current questions?? made a rod for my own back here!! i do apprieciate and agree with your opinions by the way ;-)

You have son.

If your PV circuit does not have additional RCD protection for cable concealed, and it is coming off the supply side of the RCD as is, then N/A

In all intent and purpose you have made a sub board within the main board, and technically it does not have RCD protection so again N/A

I hope you label this up well, as it will totally confuse someone coming behind you

many many thanks, i have indentfied all switches/circuits and have made a full schematic which i have put on the cu flap...(and the customer has a copy in the handover document) (drawn better than the one i posted here!)
thanks again for your help ;-)
