PV Junction box

Hi got another question. My assessment is in the morning. Got my 2KW system
done and paperwork in order (I think). The installation is Text book apart from not having a PV Junction box. Is this a must have? Mains comes in only 2 m from roof so DC cables go straight from the DC isolation to the string. As it's a single string and no fuses etc I did not see the need but now I'm thinking do I have to have one.

Any ideas?

You have nothing to join, so no need for a junction box. As far as I am concerned MC4 male/female connections can be in the open air.

will you ever need a junction box??, can't you just make the MC3/MC4 ends off to join them??

Larger arrays, joining strings together, extra diodes, string fuses - then you might.
