Gents, wonder if you can advise. I have a job coming up for customer who is having an extension done. I'm going to replace the current CU, because it will be too small. I'm going to install a High Integrity board. The customer is thinking of having PV installed. I've asked him to ask the PV installer what are their requirements as to the number of ways etc at the CU. In the meantime, wonder if you could give me an idea, so I can get on with ordering the new CU?

I'm sure that PV the same as everything now and moved on. When I did my course back in 2012 there was always talk about having the PV seperate from the main CU if possible.

As your changing the board perhaps a small enclosure with an RCBO dedicated to the system, coming off split tails in an Henly
box

But I maybe well off lol

If you u put in a separate CU you should also add an isolator t so there is a single point of isolation.

Bit of you are fitting a Hi integrity then surely that is s Ok.

There is a thread on one of the forums about not putting the pv on a shared rcd.

If a new CU is going in then my suggestion put everything in there for neatness unless there is a good reason for extra boxes. The PV will require one way for a mcb, preferably not rcd protected if the cabling can be designed that way. I have often put a din rail meter inside the CU as well to hide everything away. The meter uses another way in the CU. Best speak/email the PV man. He may prefer separate boxes to keep responsibilities and liabilities clear, and customer may have a view.
