Hi, Thinking of buying it. I think ill go for the expert version. But do I get gridcon or set?

Does the software allow you to enter all different roof designs?

I've looked at the demo but it seams to me that you are restricted to only a small amount of roof shapes, can you put your own roof shape in?

TIA

You probably want gridcon, set includes Standalone (off-grid)systems. Very useful if you are designing them but as there's no FiT for off-grid...

Yes there is FIT for off grid, it's the same as on-grid :) And it's not the 'standalone' rate either.

Of course you won't get any export :(

I may have it wrong and TedM will I'm sure correct me if I'm wrong :)

As fare as I am aware there is nothing in the FiT scheme that says you have to be grid connected, - you do have to generate AC and have a generation meter installed.

That the way i understand it as well , i do think you have to have a valid use for it as well and not just put the system in to claim the fits and not use it .

@dpelectricalltd - yes you do have to have a valid use, e.g. power a house / barn / workshop the power can't just be sent to a dump load.

Hi
bought pv.sol expert recently. Still trying to get to grips with it. It is not intuitive and the downloadable user manual is just as difficult to follow. There is a 2 day course available from the u.k. Distributors but at £530 + vat is a disincentive for me. I'll persist and try to work out the order that inputs are required(this is my main obstacle at the moment). It is very expensive software, but is touted as the best.

Brought this today and noticed the currency is in dollars, how do you change it or has wrong version been downloaded somehow?

Thought id check before i ring there expensive hotline up.

It's a windows setting under region and language.

The unit of currency in the programme depends on the system settings in your PC.

You can change the currency setting for your operating system in the system settings (depending on the operating system version, you can do this under Regional and Language Options or under Country Settings).

With Windows XP click on Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Customize > Select Currency Tab and adjust accordingly.

With Windows 7 click on Start > Control Panel > Clock, Language, and Region > Region and Language > Additional Settings > Reset > Yes > OK > Apply > OK

Hi tiberius.
Still having that problem myself. I understand that the currency is picked up by the program and that you have to check your language settings in your computers control panel. It hasn't worked for me but the program may be picking up settings from projects which i have completed. I,m running windows 7. I may well end up on the tech line before today is over.

Iv got windows 7 too, iv just check and every project is using pounds, even the example ones. I did what the guy on previous page said, shame it hasnt worked.
