Hi can anyone tell me if this pvc skirting with built in trunking like shown here 50mm x 170mm Skirting Trunking - (3mts) is acceptable to the 17th regs
i.e permitted zones etc, for use in a domestic kitchen along the length of one wall(at skirting level with no accessories) and then feeding a socket on the adjacent wall?

Also slightly off topic from title but if a further spur was added to feed a leanto with a double socket on the otherside of this one does the fcu need to be before the first spur in the kitchen or can it be after?

The circuit will be rcd protected from the cu.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice still in training so please try and be gentle:)

although you wouldnt normally run cables around skirting, if the skirting is designed for this then i cant see a problem, if you are spurring from a spur then you should fuse down straight from the ring then you may add as many spurs from that section as required as they will all be fused down to 13a

It is surface mounted, yes, but it doesn't comply with part M for use in domestic properties - it's meant for places where part M doesn't apply such as offices etc where sockets are only to be used by skilled or instructed persons, or it could be used in (domestic) refurbishments provided the new sockets are no less accessible than the previous ones, ie if there are already sockets at skirting level.

... And yes the fuse should be before the first spur.

Thanks for all your replys, pretty much what I thought:
Not widely used in domestic installs but ok to use if it meets BS4678 and fcu before start of spur. Part M would apply if a new build but not if a rewire as long as accessory heights are no less hospitable than the original locations. (sorry just recapping to get it straight in my head)

I'd be interested to know what your thoughts are on this stuff White Skirting Board Cable Management Solution : Conduit Trunking : Maplin
particularly if it was used in situation where no accessories were used for the length of it
i.e without the socket in the kitchen and just feeding the leanto, my instincts tell me its not best practice but what would the nic guy make of it?

Thanks again

I would say your second link to skirting trunking is a surface mounted install.if the accessories are mounted above a vertical chase your looking good
You could even put the fused spur low down and out of the way
