Hey guys.

My friend is getting out of the armed forces at the end of the year and they give him training credits towards a course of his choice. For his sins he has chosen to get into the field of being an electrician. He is asking me what course he needs to do but to tell you the truth it's all changed since I qualified, attached to this thread should be a photo he sent me with the courses on. Can anybody on here a little more in the loop let me know what one or ones he should pick.

Thanks in advance

Ok, I was 20 years plus with plenty of electrical experience and left the forces to go on to a industrial site as a technician. I went the technician route because of my quals and experience, there seems to be a shortage in electrical techs, so I would use the credits for btec or hnc, hnd. If he wants to go in to installation there are far better qualified people here to advise. But stick to the correct routes and not the (dare I say it) Electrical Trainee courses!!!

As above...steer clear of the "fast track, earn big" routes!!! College is his best bet coupled with practical work experiance. I believe the C & G 2365 lvl 3 replaced the old 2330 but I could be wrong. This would be the best starting point but at lvl 2. Then work his way up. It wont be a quick route but it will be the right route.

when I'm in front of my computer tomorrow I'll give you the standard " list" from my cv.

where in the country will he be moving back to?

To the people saying to avoid the quick course I've already told him that. So far from what I can make out I've said to go for the 16 week intensive course to gain his level 2 and 3 in C&G 2365 then try and get work as an electrical mate to get him through his NVQ and get him some hands on experience in prep for his AM2. Failing that I've told him to be a plumber :wink5:
City & Guilds 2365 Course Level 2 & 3 Diploma

digging holes to sh*t in then i see...

Was more mine sweeping while wearing a morphsuit, boxing matches with the yanks and standard patrols from what I heard :gunsmilie:
