Can anyone offer any help with following query regarding qualifications.
I am returning to the UK after 30 years in Australia.
I have C & G from British Steel as an Electrician (1975-79)
Came to Oz in '82 and my Quals converted to Electrical Fitter. I also have
restricted Electrical Contractors Licence, which over here means I can legally
run a business as a qualified Electrical Fitter. I have worked in Cleaning Equipment
most of my life e.g. Vacs, Polishers etc and would continue in this field back in the UK.

The question is - What are the qualifications/licences required to do this work in the UK.
I am not interested in install work so I guess it may be classed as appliance repairer.

Thanks for your help

your c+g qualifications will still be valid, it will be worth doing the 17th as a refresher though as a lot of employers will ask for it.

might be worth doing 2394/2395 inspection and testing toto get approved grade

Unless anyone knows any different, there is no licensing of operatives in this area of work. In fact any Tom Dick or Harry can call themselves an appliance repairer without having any qualifications either!! lol!! Australia has got things like this right, whereas the UK have been left high and dry by it's own colonies

I was led to believe there were no formal quals for this type of work, which in itself is pretty terrifying. The things people are willing to put on their backs and plug in after they have repaired them beggars belief. Australia IS strict with licencing, but it still doesn't stop cleaners trying to save a quid by doing their own repairs !!!Also Mandatory PAT testing every 6 months on cleaning equipment.

That would be the same anywhere in the world to be honest... You'll never be able to stop that by legislation....
