Hi guys.
Im new to this site, hope this wont be a problem.

I have recently in the last month enroled in a Electrical course,i have read a few reports on the net since signing up that make me a little concerened about the course structure.
My questions basically are if i complete and pass the following qualifications on the course will i be able to become a qualified electrician ??? the qualifiactions are listed below.

Certified essential electrics program (foundation level)
c&g 2377 pat testing
full scope part p
c&g 2382 17th edition IEE wiring regulation
logic certified domestic periodic inspection qualification
c&g 2330 level 2 technical certificate

I ve have spent ÂŁ4000 on this course and will need to spend time away from from also costing me another ÂŁ1000 or more + plus loss of earning during this time.Im extremely concerend that the course may not be as i was told the full electrician qualification course.
Any help and avdice will be very much appreciaited.
many thanks in advance

you have been sold what is commonoly been known as a domestic installers course!

17th is handy,
2330 is handy just top up to level 3 in your own time
c&g 2377 pat testing (unless you want to do pat testing)
full scope part p (to complete the domestic installers course)

as for the other 2 you mentioned they pretty much worthless bits of paper! however any thing you do learn from them will be benificiall as it will give youy a understanding/insight of what's involved for you to take to another level

you should AIM to add to your portfolio

NVQ 3 2356
2392 or preferably once enough experience or confiedence 2391
2330 level 3

its a start that gives you the foundation to work on and if you read the books and understand then yes its an acceptable way of becoming a spark.

the fact your doing the 2330 is a help as that will give you a level of technical knowledge normally missed out by some courses,

i entered from a slightly similar route but i had a few years of direct working on electrics with the royal navy,

i never did domestic installer route though

mine was

17th edition
btec advanced diploma level 3 (similar to 2330 level 3)
2377 (paid by navy)
NVQ 3
2391
and lots of on-site experience for 8 months

2330 ends this year to be replaced with a diff qual,so not sure how you would move to level3 maybe worth checking as you cant gain nvq without level 3 (thats if you can at all under new system)

17th yes
2391 yes
