Ok so say you wer going to wire a 3.8kw double oven, the instructions say 6mm t+e 32amp double pole switch? and " to be installed by an niceic member " LOL.

Anyway back to the 3.8kw double oven, if you do the diversity calculations for a house hold cooking appliance =
3800w/230v = 16.521 - 10 = 6.521 x 0.3 = 1.956 + 10 = 11.956

Am i wrong in saying this appliance would be perfectly fine on a 13a plug top?

Read again as i wrote down what the instructions said :)
I don't need to read again I saw it the first time, they said a double pole switch, so in theory if you installed it on a plug top and anything happened they may not replace it under warranty, okay they may be forced to if you took action against them but there would be hassle along the way lol

It may do until for a while until your diversity theory is exceeded.... Diversity is for the average energy demands of the property, your cooker still needs to be able to give full power if required so do as the manufacturers advice says.

2 point - the regs tells you to following any manufacturers requirements and second they are in breach of the law as they have stipulated one particular body with no representation of others so anyone who isn't a member of the NICEIC may lose out if quoting the work.

As the calcs seem to suggest full load is approx 16 then in this case I would supply a 20amp circuit through a DP switch... as the manufacturers have clearly got something amiss here unless your info you relay to us is missing something....
are you sure this is not 3800 per oven section?... that would make sense then with the manufacturers requirements.

Lastly they cannot state a cable size as this is subject to install methods and not for them to suggest its size.

Who uses grill, hobs, oven all on max at the same time ????? if wiring SUBWAY the food chains ovens, if u didnt allow for diversity u would have some big --- expensive cables to install

You said double oven ... there are various types you can get ones with 2 seperate ovens and they can be used at the same time ..you were not clear on what type it was and yes seen an oven on with grill together plenty of times...called slow cooking the meat for tea and preparing the kids dinner ... put it on a plug top but don't complain if you get a call Xmas day when they have all the family around.

You also never mentioned hobs either.
