Can somebody help im going to take my 2394 in February and as far as filling out certificates and sequence of tests im not too bad, but as im still a student and still learning im just a little unsure on a few tests and why there within a certain sequence.

So why do you check continuity of main protective bonding conductors before carrying out an insulation resistance test.

Its probably a really obvious question but just a bit mind blocked so any help would be great cheers.

to make sure that the circuit is continuous, not broken. otherwise you might be doing the IR test on only half of the circuit.

TERMINOLOGY Martin.

Make sure you read the question very carefully.

If the question asks you to list the sequence of tests for a newly installed lighting circuit for example (more than likely to be along those lines) you would not write down "Continuity of Main Protective Bonding Conductors" you would Start with "Continuity of Circuit Protective Conductors"

P.S if you're doing the 2394 you really should have a copy of Guidance note 3 which will tell you everything you need to know, read it front to back, then do it again and again no matter how boring it may be lol. It's all worth it when you've passed ;)

Hi mate :)
If you have low insulation resistance you could raise the potential of any exposed metalwork when you test. If the bonding is proved you know in advance you will have no chance of receiving a shock from the pipework under test.
