On some of the certificates it has a heading Main Switch or Circuit Breaker and has the following bits that need to be filled in

BS TYpe........ No. of poles.......... Current rating....... Voltage Rating.........

Location......... Fuse Rating or setting.............

For a normal domestic installation which bit should I be looking at? Would it be the main switch on the consumer Unit, or the main fuse at the cut out?

That refers to the main switch of the installation, be it the 100A main switch of a CU in a domestic situation, or the 600A main isolator in an industrial setting.

The suppliers fuse would come under "primary overcurrent protection" heading.

So in a normal domestic situation where I have a 100A main switch, where it says fuse rating or setting on the form, would I just leave it blank or would I put 100A?

Yes, if the supply is direct from the meter to the CU and it is a standard main switch to BS 60947-3 and you have already recorded the main switch details you put N/A in these sections.

These would be filled in if it was an MCCB used as a main isolator for instance where there are overload settings present.

You only need to switch the lines and the contactor is rated per pole so for example a 16A four pole contactor would be fine.
