Hello everyone can somebody answer this for me please.

Whos resposibility is it to notify local area building control of work that needs to be carried out say a rewire? or a CU change?

Thanks people

You!!!!!

or to make it more to the point the Competent Person carrying out the work...!!! can be notified after the Job complete if registered via a Scheme Part P but needs to be done before and after if just doing the work as a non registered person

are you a member of a scheme!! or going to join a scheme???

building control notification can quite easily start in the ÂŁ100's
and yes it varies area to area!!!

Well i just jioned a company who do shop refits and I trying to push to get them registerd but they wont unless the electrical work picks up, because they never had a Electrician work for them before, but some of the work might start before I get them registerd, if I was in the middle of getting the company registerd would I be able to start some of the work or or would I have to notify building control until registerd??

Cheers

if its commercial work then Building control don't need to know...! and been registered with a scheme provider will be pointless unless the shop work extends into maybe the flat above or shares the same supply etc...!!

Building Control Route!!! just give local council building control a ring and talk to them they can then discuss charges and ask to see your certs and in some cases will allow you to do work with very minimal hassle from them self..!! especially if they register you as a competent person on THEIR register.

yes... but to be honest i know loads of sparks who don't notify anything and earn a fortune...!!
Then start reporting them...I get fed up of sparks complaining (not saying you are a complainer) about part P not being policed & doing sod all about the problem.
The more reports the BC's get the more likely they are to start looking into the problem....especialy as they are now getting budget cuts they'll be after any income they can get, that includes fines for non notification of work.
