I have re-wired a garage and using for my niceic assessment. i have drilled the joists all in correct positions and depth according to buildings regs, and clipped then dropped into conduit down to accessories etc. problem is the roof or floor is on an angle so at one end of the garage the ceiling hieght is say above two meters out of reach, but at the other end of the garage you can reach the joists they are not far off head hieght. obviously i have run the cables through the joist which means at the end where the ceiling is low you can reach the cables passing through the joists! is this acceptable? or do i need to rectify this some how? it has to be right as its one of my jobs to be accessed.

Thanks all

Kirk

I don't think it looks poor at all infact very good, but it's just you can reach the joists at one end if the garage meaning you can reach the cables passing through the joist at that end of the garage. Is this complient with regs?? I can't find anything on this! If it is then I will leave it as is.

Thanks all

The fact that you can touch them is not an issue here, as the cables are double insulated. You just have to convince the assessor that cables are safe and not going to be damaged in someway. As long as you are not storing sharp objects/ tools or anything that can damage them nearby there should not be an issue.

Thanks,

there are tools stored but the garage is seperated by a divideing wall which has seperate access, and the tools are stored in the part of the garage where the joists are out of reach so all good there.:)
