I have a few Questions regarding Inspection and Testing. Please be patient with me and help please! If you could answer the wrong questions for me I will be very sincere.

Q1. State the need to comply with the statutory and non statutory requirement, and guidance material for particular location and environment in which electrical installation are installed?(1.4)

My answers:
a) The work must be carried out be a competent person.
b) Must ensure the safety of workers and people.
c) Carry out work safely and install equipment in accordance with BS7671.
d) Carry out inspection safely and use correctly maintained equipment.
e) Fill in the documents correctly.
Are they Correct?


Q2.State the particular requirement for periodic inspection of an electrical installation as defined in BS7671? (2.3)

My answers:
a) For Reporting on the condition of an existing installation.
b) For inspections compromising of a detailed examination of the installation without or with partial dismantling.
c)Check on the condition of all the circuit and equipment.
d)Inspection procedures will include: Age, Corrosion, External influence, damage, and wear and tear.
Are They correct?

Q3. Sate the requirement of the Electricity At Work Regulations for safe inspection and testing in terms of those (2.5):

a) Carry out work?

My answer:
As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to remove danger as far as possible such danger.
Is this correct?

b) Using the installation and the building during the inspection detesting?
My answer:
It is not allowed.
Is this correct?

Do you have a iee wiring regs brb?

Q1. If so try page 240 for the need to comply with stat and non stat regs.
and app 5 P.319 for enviromental conditions.

Q2. again brb but P.339 but you seem to have the basics there maybe more needed?

Q3. You need to read through the EAWR, available on the internet. But a big miss on a) is safe isolation

Please I have two more question! Please be patient with me I am a newbie with this stuff.

Q: Before above for Question 3 part (b) is this the correct answer A: Not acceptable to use the installation and the building during the inspection detesting?

Q3b Refer to GN3 P.13 section 1.1, P.49/50 testing Ze and P.66 section 3.8.4
As you would be the inspector, you have to take the responsibility to interact with the site/house owner to organise times when parts or all of the installation can be isolated for testing.

Next Q
answer 1 and 2 are the same but you should specify 17th edition or current edition of Bs7671:2008
You missed the OSG in your list
5. again add, to 17th edition
6 possibly worth changing to, The Building Regs. as Part P is not the only part that applys to the electrical contractor. Section 7 of OSG gives a few more details.
4 do you mean the Electrcal safety council?
