I'm not quite sure what a hot press is, but then that's probably me being thick.

Do you know the rating of the press ie 3000w or 13amps??
How are you taking the spur from the immersion switch?
Is the immersion still wired up, if so what rating is the breaker?

Cheers
Jim

Some things you will need to find out.

1. Is the immersion on it's own circuit
2. The rating of the MCB/fuse protecting the immersion circuit.
3. The existing loading of the immersion circuit
4. Existing volt drop.....how far do you intend "spurring" off to this pump

Before deciding on the cable, you need to make sure you can actually do this.

HTH.

I'm sure it is possible to do this, I'm going to take power from the immersion switch to the spur and then from the spur out to the pump, afaik the pumps only pull in half an amp or so, so it should be alright
