:)

hello
just need to get my head around these types of situations.

1/ im asked to fit spots and move fan in a bathroom
2/ i tell them that i have to fit 12v selv etc because of zones
3/ fill out my minor cert

if when i get there i find that the light circuit is not rcd protected do i stop work and make / advise customer to have rcd fitted ref 17th ed or is it okay because we are doing a minor works and dont need to go to that extent.
my thoughts are that the cust is having his "bathroom done up" and isint interested in me banging on about rcd s etc. so they will have "a mate" fit the lights "no thanks" "p155 off"!!

:)

If you don't want to goto the expense/ hassle of fitting an RCBO you could take the bathroom lighting down to a local RCD spur.
The work needs to be notified to building control as a bathroom is an area of increased risk so if they refuse an RCD then I'd walk away. It's you, not them that is liable to prosecution.
