Hi, got to go give a quote on some extra sockets in a kitchen. Would it be best to charge a set price per socket? Or work out materials and labour seperate? I am currently employed so dont do alot of jobs for myself.

only you can estimate the time it will take you. £50 per point with a min charge of £150? don't forget RCD required. earthing and bonding tested and brought up to standard if required. MEWIC certificate.

Yeh i was ok with with the pre work inspection bonding, rcd ect. So would you say £50 per point is a general rule of thumb with most electricians? Would that be £50 per point plus labour cost on top?

including labour. depends how many points. say you have to fit 3 sockets. £150. ok. materials cost is around £40 inc. cable. so you have £110 for your labour. if it takes 4 hours, thats fine. if it's an all day job, not good. cost it out and estimate hours at £20-£30 per hour.

That may prove quite expensive for your customer mate. Chat your supervisor up and use your firms registration

if you are going to be doing a fair bit of domestic work, best to join napit or elecsa. if you are going to go down this route, do the job, use it for assessment, and notify through your chosen shark after passing the assessment.
