alrite fellas, wondering if someone can enlighten me.

domestic property
very small 2 bedroom house
had rat infestation now rats have been evitcted lol

all results have been tested twice and then tested again with another instrument all calibrated etc

cables have been knawed etc, inspection and test undertaken for insurance company purposes which they have agreed to pay.

condition of installation : poor
estimate age: 25years

JUST WONDERING WHY SOME OF THE TEST RESULTS ARE HIGH if anyone has any thoughts etc would they be acceptable etc.

R1+R2

UP SKTS: 0.46ohms
DWN SKTS: 1.40 ohms
UP LIGHTS: 2.27 ohms
DWN LIGHTS: 4.67 ohms

INSULATION RESISTANCE (all loads removed switches on tested in both switch postions)

BLANKET TEST:

L-N: 1.67 Mohms
L-E: 1.66 Mohms
N-E: 3.21 Mohms

ZE: 0.33 ohms

PEFC: 0.36 ohms
PSCC: 0.24 ohms

ZS:

DOWN SKTS: 0.69 ohms
UP SKTS: 0.47 ohms
UP LIGHTS: 0.74ohms
DOWN LIGHTS: 0.63 ohms

RCD:

x1 = 21.4ms
x5= 13.1 ms

RAMP TEST: 21mA

just wanna know if anyone has any ideas why some of the reading are so high?

i know on some of the cables when inspecting the sheath missing n teeth marks in insulation etc

cheers for the help

i think i no the answer but has the customer got any pir/eic 's to conpare test results to??

have all damaged cables been found, u dont no how far the damage has gone into the copper???

i was at a job the other day; there alarm was not working, every cable that went under the floor was gone, i was thinkin wtf is going on here, then the customer informed me off the rats!!! sound then!!!

no, no existing PIRS OE EICS available never been tested not from what he said even at construction stage years ago.

just wondering whats causing the resistance to be so high.

because obviously

ZS= ZE+(R1+R2) = ZS= 0.33+(4.67)= 5.0

so thinking in that perspective would the zs be around the 5.0 mark give or take?

why is the circuit zs 0.63??

or is it ive just had a long day lol

From those results I would say there is something wrong with the method of measuring Zs for the circuits as I would not expect that low a value for a very old circuit unles the house is really small. Are you sure you were measuring Zs at the extremity of the circuit?
The values for Ze +R1 +R2 are OK and may be expected on old circuits.

The IR results are predictably low presumably from the rats and would need breaking down to find the damaged cables, unless they are all accessible to view all along their length, but even then and individual IR test would be a good idea.
