My meter seems fine but when measuring r1+r2 the reading really seem to jump about from 0.31 up to 0.71 is this normal on sockets

Why do the readings jump about on a ring figure 8. Test

R1 end to end was 0.61 rn was same and r2 was about 1.66 x r1

please edit post so we know when you mean r1,r2 and R1,R2. so confusing, mate.

and the reason the readings vary is usually crap sockets.

Tested leads all seem fine, new batterys fitted, mk sockets r1, r2 rn are all fine just R1+R2 could the quality of the terminal block used to join at the board do this. As they are not the normal ones i use. Picked them up in trade point has hard white plastic coating and dont look brass or copper.

Sorry mate using my phone and.keyboard is rubbish lol and not sure how to edit this post but i mean big R1+R2 hope you can forgive me :)

that's what happens when you use something that'e designed for making phone calls as a typewriter. it's bad enough with these big keys.LOL.

drop socket and test straight from terminals, socket adaptors don't make good contact in worn sockets. from figures it looks like old 2.5t+e with 1mm cpc. probably some dodgy connections in there somewhere also.
