The bricklayers on my site got a ÂŁ2 per/hr rise to ÂŁ17 this wk but in return their boss stopped paying for there lunch break. There subbys. Any sparks starting to see an up turn?

Apparently there is a massive national shortage of brickies. Was reading about it yesterday On BBC I think..maybe that's part of the reason for the rise.....

I heard about the Brockie shortage they said they were getting polish guys in at 1k a week!!!!!!

I think the reality is that the ÂŁ1K per week is what Manpower are charging to supply 1 x brickie for a week.

London rates are about ÂŁ170 per day.

Heard this on a reliable independent radio programme

You can earn that subbing as a spark quite easily on the right sites, 17 is pretty good for a brickie though I admit that, then again I suppose it is skillful to be able to build a house and get it level and looking good, so they probably deserve it.
