Hi, I am looking at a lighting circuit, Hall, Bedroom, Bathroom which is on an RCBO 6amp, the lighting circuit is not working, the RCBO has NOT tripped. I have done a quick test with a voltage stick just to see if there is power to the switches - and there is. Would I be right in thinking this could be a neutral fault ? but I am confused as to why the RCBO has not detected this.

thanks, Ian.

Why don't you test at the first light that isn't working in the loop and see if you have voltages between line and earth and line and neutral, might be a lose neutral in the last light that is working or first light that isn't! Would not definitely trip rcd as if it isn't in contact with cpc or live so the rcd won't see the fault. Hope this helps I'm on my phone so might be a bit gibberish

Sounds like a dis. neutral, check the board then work your way through the circuit but as it affecting all the lights it's more likely to be at the first one. Check the N-E should be 0V but if it's disconected you will have a voltage on the neutral assuming the cpc is present and connected

thanks to all who replied. I found the issue. I made my way around the circuit doing continuity tests between the fittings and switches and the RCBO neutral and the switches and low and behold the first point in the circuit where the line and neutral were looped behind a switch there was a little neutral fellow all on his own waiting to get connected.
